A wine geek zaps the fun out of a great wine experience.

I remember when how excited I was when the Wine Spectator was coming out with a food and wine paring feature. As an ex-chef and Wine Director, I was excited to read about some new wine and food ideas to share with my members and friends. However, when I read the article, the food was some game bird I have never heard of, and the wine was a varietal I had never tasted, both from a country I had no intention of visiting.

My first thought was "what wine goes with fried chIcken?".

Since that experience, I decided to make wine education about what we eat and drink in a manner that is fun and and useful both at home and when dining out.

There are many stories that can set the tone when discussing wine and folks that sell wine should ask questions to determine what the wine buyer is looking for. Sure, there are plenty of folks out there that love an interesting and expensive wine at times, but most people want something with great value they can drink on a regular basis.

The "Fun with Wine" site will deal with all kinds of wine in all kinds of price points but will focus on the stories that wine drinkers want to hear, the differences in varietals and within varietals and what to look for when making a wine choice. I will share stories about my wine experiences, how to shop for wine, both for restaurant and every day enjoyment, recommend restaurants in the wine country, let you know about special events, talk about great wineries to visit and suggest some great wine tours, both self guided and with an experienced guide.

This site is just getting started so please visit often as new information will continue to populate this site. I will also be happy to answer any questions the readers wish to ask.

Cheers
